NFR Round 7: Barrel Racing

Whew, Round 7 was incredible! Lots of really fast and consistent runs! It is coming down to the wire these last few rounds of the NFR! Can you believe the NFR started last Thursday? I sure can’t! It has gone by way to fast! We still have three rounds left and they are going to be intense! We saw the intensity last night with a new possible arena record run of 13.31 but sadly Amberleigh Moore and her horse Paige hit the third barrel! I think they will be in for a redemption run tonight in Round 8!

Congratulations Mary and Mo!

Mary Burger has been holding onto her World Title throughout the NFR. Last night she finally reminded everyone of her place in the World Standings by winning Round 7 with a 13.58!  She ran a beautiful run with her gorgeous buckskin gelding Mo. Mary has had a brilliant year and seems to be finishing strong this NFR!

Even though Amberleigh Moore hit a barrel in Round 7, she still is placing second in the aggregate. Lisa Lockhart was able to make it around all three barrels safe and consistently like her and Louie always do. She is still holding onto first in the average and is the only one who hasn’t hit a barrel this NFR! Sarah Rose McDonald had a wild ride last night and definitely rode for broke when she lost her stirrup.  Her and Bling ran a smoking run of 13.66 and placed 2nd in the go round! Sherry Cervi and Arson stayed consistent and fast with a 13.71 coming in 3rd in the go round! Round 8 is tonight and I have a feeling it is going to keep us all on our toes! It’s going to be fun watching these last two rounds of the NFR! Who do you think will win the World Title?

Top two highlights (excluding qualifying for NFR):

I would have to say winning Houston and Calgary..

Most looking forward to doing/experiencing in Las Vegas:

The fact I made it back and looking forward to just winning as much money as I can.

Describe your 2016 season:

Amazing to do what I have done without really having any goals in mind except to go to the big winter rodeos. A little speechless to have this chance in a lifetime at my age is just wow.

Describe your horse’s running and turning style and how they will do with the Thomas and Mack set-up:

Mo has done well in all situations this year. He still is immature and gets sloppy and not super solid yet. He is very capable of doing very well. Just a matter of if it is my turn or whether he likes that pen at that time. One of those things where I know he has done well and just hope he can finish well. Houston we had lots of runs and he seemed to get better each run so I don’t worry about the 10 nights at the Finals. Just going to try win as much as we can each run down the alleyway and around the barrels.
