2016 NFR Barrel Racing: Round 5

NFR Round 5: Barrel Racing

You could definitely tell that round 5 was the halfway point of the NFR. There were some hit barrels, average boosts and upsets, fast runs and some slower runs. Compared to the consistent fast times and round 3 and 4, I was a little disappointed in the “slower (still fast time compared to other NFR rounds)” times but the round was still exciting! I think some lady’s might be safetying up a bit so they can stay in the average. It also seemed liks some of the horses might be getting tired? I don’t know the ground just seemed a bit slower last night even though it looked like it held up well. Tonight is round 6 so it will be interesting to see if there are some horse changes, and if the gals will be “going for broke” or “safetying it up” to stay in the average! We shall find out in a few hours!

Congratulations Amberleigh and Paige!

After earning a paycheck in each round during the NFR, Amberleigh and her gorgeous mare Paige won Round 5 with a smoking 13.62 second run! Their consistency in every round and quick times has payed off by moving them in to first in the Aggregate!  Michele McLeod made another fast run in Round 5 where she came in second and Pamela Capper came in third. It has been interesting how there has been a new round winner every night!

Only three cowgirls, including Amberleigh Moore, have yet to hit a barrel. The other two are Lisa Lockhart who is 2nd in the aggregate and Pamela Capper who is 3rd. All three have been very consistent all week so it will be interesting to see how the rest of the 5 rounds turn out!

After winning Round 5, Amberleigh has made an amazing leap from 15th in the World to 4th! Winning in each round has helped her tremendously with the huge payout this year! How impressive! Mary Burger is still holding on to her World Title at $220,438 and Lisa Lockhart is close behind with $170,321! These next 5 rounds are going to be intense y’all! Round 6 is tonight!!

Simply amazing and surreal.

How do you think you will feel coming down the alley for the first time at the Thomas and Mack?

It makes me smile and my heart race at the thought of that 1st Round at the Wrangler NFR.

Describe your horse’s running and turning style and how they will do with the Thomas and Mack set-up:

Paige is a perfectionist – hard running and hard turning. Paige loves running on small patterns so I believe she is going to Love the Thomas and Mack.
