2016 NFR Barrel Racing: Round 2

NFR Round 2: Barrel Racing

Wow! Is literally all I can say about round 2! Let’s just say it was a fast and very tight race last night! There were less hit barrels and lots of beautiful runs. Like I mentioned in Round 1, the horses appeared more comfortable in the Thomas and Mack since Round 1. You could tell they are enjoying the fast paced atmosphere and the excitement from fans! It is going to be a tough week if the horses are running this fast already. The ground held really well last night, and if it keeps holding well, these horses are going to run faster and faster! The talent of the horses and riders is amazing this year!

Congratulations Kimmie and Foxy!

After watching the first two horses run through the alleyway, you could tell this round was going to be a major horse race! Kimmie Wall, who was 3rd out, hauled through the alleyway and smoked a run on her horse named Foxy. They ran a quick beautiful pattern and set the fast time at 13.79! For being Kimmie’s first time at the NFR, you can tell they are out to win especially after winning 2nd in Round 1!

Lisa Lockhart on her veteran horse Louie and Sherry Cervi on Arson tied for second with a close 13.80! Amberleigh Moore came in 3rd with a 13.81! To make it into the top 6 you had to run a 13.90. Talk about a close horse race, there is seriously no room for error!

Coming into the NFR, Kimmie was 5th in the world standings. With her wins the last two rounds, she is now 2nd in the World! She is only $40,450.00 behind Mary Burger! Do you think Kimmie can win the world?! I definitely think she has a chance especially since there are 8 more rounds left to go! It is going to be fun watching this duo the rest of the week! I have a feeling they will be a force to be reckoned with! Round 3 is tonight!!!

Most looking forward to doing/experiencing in Las Vegas:

It is every little girls dream that has ever ran around a barrel to run down the alley at the Thomas and Mack and I actually get to do it!

In 10 words or less describe your 2016 season:

Dreams really do come true – never give up!

How do you think you will feel coming down the alley for the first time at the Thomas and Mack?

I think it will be a little emotional. Not only for me but my family who has worked so hard and sacrificed so much to make this a reality.

Describe your horse’s running and turning style and how they will do with the Thomas and Mack set-up:

Foxy runs hard and turns hard. She likes to have a little ground under her feet. The size of the pens doesn’t seem to matter. She just really loves her job. The alleyway at the Thomas and Mack will be tricky but Foxy will really like the atmosphere at the Wrangler NFR.
